My name is John Dolan and I am the proud principal of Williams Field High School. 

Professionally, I possess more than 30 years of experience in the field of education. Motivated by my own positive experiences in school, I pursued a path in education where I began my career as a social studies instructor in New York. After years of working as an educator and shortly after relocating to Arizona, I decided I wanted to make a larger impact not only in my classroom, but with an entire school community. This sparked an interest that led to me earning an endorsement in administration. 

Having gained invaluable experience in teaching, curriculum writing, coaching, and experience as the Dean of Students and Assistant Principal in both Phoenix and Tempe Union, I welcomed the opportunity to expand upon my belief and philosophy that “All Children Can Learn” when joining Higley Unified School District back in 2012. Most recently, I have emphasized both social and academic excellence as the Principal of Higley Virtual Academy and Principal of Sossaman Middle School. Through the commitment of each teacher and staff member, we enforced a campus motto of Respect and Accountability, embraced a Growth Mindset, implemented a systematics means to support academics, provided a foundation of mutual trust and respect between education while supporting social and emotional needs, created a Mission Statement that ignited curiosity, nurtured growth, and fostered a passion, and celebrated the fruitful efforts, successes and failures of being awarded an A+ School of Excellence. It may be more important; however, for you to know that I am a parent.  I fully understand the challenges and rewards you face every day as you work to ensure your child has the best educational experience.

I recognize that education is an ongoing and evolving process; therefore, we must continually adjust our structures and methods to support students. I strongly believe in creating a vision that provides parents and community members a brief but clear overview of the overall ethos of our campus. Together with staff, we’ll ensure our vision has the merit, keep us focused on its core purpose, and has the foundation and support for your son or daughter to be successful.

I am honored to have been chosen by HUSD Leadership to oversee Williams Field High School. I look forward to the adventure that lies ahead.
