Theatre Arts

Williams Field Thespians are a Troupe of the Arizona Thespians with student representation on the Student Board. They are a Silver Honor Troupe in Excellent Standing, participating in the regional festivals, the state festival, state one act festival, and attending leadership camp over the summer. We produce many quality productions each year, as well as attend other school's shows, perform community service, and support each other in life.

All kinds of students make up the theatre arts program at WFHS:
 -- those who scream from the rooftops "theatre is my LIFE!" and want to be part of as many productions as they can;
 -- those who just want to include a play or 2 in their high school experience
 -- those who want to take an acting class to learn how to speak in front of people, and
 -- those who just want a fun way to earn a fine arts credit requirement.

No matter who you are, there's a place for you in theatre arts at WFHS!

Plays

Our Thespian troupe produces plays and musicals every year.  Auditions are open to the entire campus for at least two of these productions.

The plays we produce include serious dramas, light hearted comedies, musicals, and plays for youth, and range from Shakespeare to some of the most contemporary writers.

Thespians

Students who excel in theatre arts studies may become members of Thespian Troupe #7430 of the International Thespian Society, an honors organization for theatre run by the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA).  Students in Thespians produce all our extra-curricular shows, which are open to all students, as well as our improvisational theatre troupe, Off The Track.

Students in the theatre arts:
  • work on public presentation skills
  • gain understanding of others in the world around them
  • learn the value of the team experience as a member of an ensemble
  • forge lifelong friendships
  • create art experiences that contribute to the entire community
  • experience the power and beauty of art in life.
